We wish you all a joyous Day of the Covenant! In honor of the centenary of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá’s travels west, and in an effort to learn about how follow His example, bahaireflections.com is shifting focus to host a project called “Little by Little, Day by Day”. Each week, we will post a story from the life [...]

Recently, my husband and I moved to a remote community in the Northwest Territories in Northern Canada. Our territory is the third biggest province in Canada after Nunavut and Quebec…which is to say that it’s big and covers a vast space. However, as mentioned in one of my previous posts, the NWT only has 3 [...]

“Our children need to be nurtured spiritually and to be integrated into the life of the Cause.” (Universal House of Justice, Ridván 2000) Our cluster (geographically greater Cleveland, Ohio, USA) is learning how to integrate children into most activities. Yesterday we tried it with part of the quarterly reflection-on-learning gathering for a few minutes.

As I keep engaging in conversations about the importance of friendship generally, and its importance as a foundation for happy relationships and marriage, I’ve been assessing my own view and experience of friendship. The essay that follows is the result of some of my musings on this topic. Enjoy! And feel free to share the [...]

One of the fun and amazing things that happens when I’m asked to be of service, is that new perspectives show up. As I prepared for it, I began making the connection between the skill-building that [...]

Rather its strength must be measured, to a large extent, by [...]

After our fourth Brunch/Devotional, we started to think about doing a community service project. Just like we read in Ruhi Book 2, “Mr. Sanchez remarked that unity did not simply mean enjoying one another’s company but involved working together and building together.” We also wanted to work and build together.

Many times in my Bahá’í life, I’ve been struck by the effect on participants when we offer hospitality and follow the guidance of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá, our Example in being of service to others. He says: …The owner of the house must personally serve the beloved ones. He must seek after the comfort of all and with [...]

When my youngest daughter, Lua, was about 4 months old and I started to feel ready to emerge out of the cave I was living in, I decided to try and meet some of my neighbours with young ones with the intention to invite them to a Children’s Devotional. I met two wonderful souls with [...]

I was originally asked to give a “mom’s perceptive” to this blog, probably based on the fact that I have two toddlers (one of them is screaming as I type. Joy). I mulled over that for a bit, and pretty much concluded that the last thing I wanted to do on my time off was [...]
